AC4, Antonio Citterio 2008

Ad Hoc Executive_web

The aim behind the structural design of AC 4 was to discreetly integrate the functional elements required for optimal comfort. Up until now, the design of office chairs has emphasised either their aesthetic appearance or their functional features. By contrast, the integration of ergonomic features in AC 4 is so subtle that its sophisticated structural components remain concealed. It achieves a balance between the most advanced ergonomic functions and an unobtrusive appearance: the innovative technical features of AC 4 are neither put on display, nor are they hidden beneath foam padding. AC 4 is an emblematic object with an elegant appearance and uncompromising functionality, ideally suited for refined offices and conference spaces.

AC 4 is available as an office swivel chair and in the version AC 4 Conference for meeting venues.

Exclusive Airports by Vitra

Meda Gate Bogota Airport

For decades, Vitra has dedicated itself to the topic of sitting. This naturally includes time spent in public spaces – illustrated quite clearly by the fact that Vitra has had the waiting area seating system Eames Tandem Seating as a part of its product portfolio since 1962. Not only the operators of public institutions, but also individual employees, visitors and passengers benefit from the experience Vitra has gained from its global installed base and its continuous exploration of new developments.

Airport Munich
Airports, train stations and other public spaces are often filled with people around the clock. Their planning and furnishings contribute both to their success in operations and to the well-being of the people who use them. The products employed must therefore meet the highest demands in terms of quality, design and serviceability.

Thanks to the broad spectrum of products, visitors to waiting zones as well as users of other areas can benefit from the ergonomic and design quality of Vitra’s products: from the airport gate to customs, security clearance and luggage check-in, and from restaurants, lounges and shopping areas to back offices and control centre areas.

Workbays by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

ERB_2014_vitra_workbays_079_WEB

With Workbays, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have developed a micro-architectural system that redefines the working environment and breaks with the typical rigid planning structure of offices. Yet Workbays not only provide office planners with a simple, multifunctional furniture system. They also offer employees the freedom to seek out the optimal environment for the task at hand. Workbays configurations fall into three categories: Workbays Focus provide places to withdraw for concentrated work, Workbays Meet create areas for communication and Workbays Space form a room within a room for functional zones such as wardrobes, printer islands, kitchens etc.

Thus Workbays create distinct areas where individuals or groups can retreat from the general office environment to carry out specific activities. The units come equipped with everything users need: work surfaces, seating and optional storage and power connections. Workbays respond to the necessity for noise reduction and help to absorb disruptive sounds in the surrounding environment. They can spontaneously serve as telephone booths, video conference rooms, reading corners, quiet spots for a coffee break or meeting rooms – without sending participants behind closed doors.

Subtle yet striking, the organic forms of Workbays add definition and structure to a room. Workbays installations are easy to plan and can be integrated into virtually any space. They can be combined, expanded or adjusted as needed to meet changing conditions. Versatile and lightweight, the units are simple to install anywhere in the room – with no noise, no mess and no damage to the building.

The structure of Workbays consists of slim aluminium profiles and organically shaped wall elements made of pressed polyester fleece. The use of this light and robust material is a groundbreaking innovation in the furniture sector. It helps to reduce noise and gives the office furniture system an inviting visual look and appealing textile feel. Slender in appearance yet remarkably sturdy and stable, Workbays are available in a range of colours.

ID Chair Concept

The ID Chair Concept offers countless customisation options to suit individual users. The FlowMotion and the ProMatic mechanisms with their multiple functions, a variety of backrests, armrests and bases as well as a wide range of colours and upholstery covers allow each user and each company to create ‘their’ own ID Chair – be it for open-plan workspaces, individual or team offices, conference areas or management offices. Despite the many possible variations, it always remains essentially the same chair in look and construction – with benefits for companies in terms of aesthetics, maintenance and service.

A study by the Institute for Biomechanics at ETH Zurich – one of the world’s leading universities – demonstrated the comprehensive benefits of the ID Chair’s range of movement. EMG measurements confirmed that the intuitive use of the weight-dependent forward tilt results in greater activity of the stomach and back muscles. This boosts the metabolism and stabilises the lumbar column. MRI measurements proved that the forward tilt function triggers movement in all segments of the lower spine. This relieves pressure and enhances the diffusion of nutrients to the vertebral discs. These dynamic sitting features actively prevent health problems.

The chair is available with the “ProMatic” chair mechanism as well as with the “FlowMotion” mechanism. “ProMatic” automatically adapts to the weight of the user. The user therefore only has to set the seat height. ProMatic is ideal for touchdown workstations and for conference and meeting areas of all kinds. The Flow-Motion mechanism and its many functions can be set to the exact requirements of the respective user.

The soft seat and supportive backrest ensure great comfort. With the optional integration of Clima Seat fleece, the seat maintains pleasant thermal conditions for up to eight times longer than conventional seat surfaces.

The ID Chair Concept consists of the models ID Air, ID Mesh, ID Soft, ID Trim, ID Trim L and ID Trim Cap, each with a different backrest.

Dining Room – At the Table with Vitra

Organic Chair, Dining Table, Akari 1AD _web

The dining room table is the heart of every home: old and young, family and friends all gather around the table to eat, play, have coffee and cake, do homework, talk, celebrate birthdays, do handicrafts, work or come together for festive occasions. As a family table, it is a place of enjoyment and relaxation. It also facilitates communication. Many important daily social interactions take place at dining room tables – across all cultures, regardless of what differences may exist.

And that is why dining tables and their chairs deserve some special attention. How big should the table be? What material is preferred? What colour? And what chairs match both one’s taste and the table?

Vitra offers a wide range of dining table chairs and dining tables in an array of materials and colours. Many additional fresh versions are also now available – and since they are all part of the new Vitra colour library and feature complementary colours, they can be mixed and matched. And this means that just the right combination can be found for all kinds of dining rooms.
